Creative Community Support

Are you an individual or community group who has a great idea for a creative project which would benefit and inspire people living in Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham or Romford?

Do you need support developing your creative idea with your local community?

Havering Changing work with communities in Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham or Romford to discover creative opportunities and develop new projects with local people in the places where they live.

Havering Changing’s Creative Community Support is about supporting communities to create new work with us that is relevant, authentic and genuinely participatory for people living in the Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham or Romford.

We also offer support to help communities and local artists to develop their skills and confidence in accessing and developing creative and cultural activities.

We are not prescriptive about what creative activity you do; for example you can try out a new craft skill, set up a choir, start a garden gallery with your neighbours, produce a set of how-to guides and workshops, create a photography exhibition or a creative writing and storytelling group - all the ideas come from you.

What is important to us is that the local community is involved in the design and delivery of the project, and that it reaches people who may not normally have this kind of creative opportunity.

Our definition of creative and cultural activity is really broad, and includes any opportunities for local people to explore their creativity through; performing arts, dance, theatre, music, visual arts, painting, sculpture, photography, design, crafts, heritage, museums, literature, poetry, storytelling, film and digital media and beyond.

Havering Changing’s Creative Community Support programme can support you with:

• An Area Worker (see contact details below) can offer advice on how to get your project started and connect you with other local community groups, organisations, creatives and artists;

• Advice on how to promote your project and activity to engage audiences in Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham and Romford;

• Small amounts of cash to help you to try something new or test out a new project idea with your local community.
