Havering Changing is looking for residents from Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham and Romford to be a part of a local steering group that will decide and programme a range of exciting local arts events that are meaningful and relevant to the community.

If you live in Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham or Romford and would like to know more, please contact us. We will be holding a number of friendly meet ups, this is a chance for anyone who is interested to have a cup of tea and a chat to find out more about Havering Changing and how the groups will work.

The creative programme consists of two strands, On Your Doorstep and Communities Celebrating. These will be driven by the needs, interests and preferences of our residents, supported by the Havering Changing team.

Steering Groups will get the chance to take part in Go See visits to experience a range of inspiring cultural activities and invite artists to respond to opportunities to create activities, events and projects in each area.

Steering Group members will be encouraged to be bold in their decision making to choose new and surprising activities. Each group will have autonomy to make their own financial and artistic decisions and will be supported by the Havering Changing Area Workers.

We passionately believe that putting local communities at the heart of cultural decision making will encourage residents to tell new and different stories about Havering; help people to feel at home in the world and in Havering; create moments of delight and inspiration; and that all this will lead to a more connected, ambitious and confident community that believes they have just as much right to amazing cultural experiences as everyone else.

We don’t yet know what those stories will be - but we are excited at the prospect of facilitating and supporting the people of Havering to create them.
